An outstanding design by an outstanding man... The Mamba Double Magnum decanter is Maximilian J. Riedel's homage to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Josef Riedel the Elder (1816-1894), the "Glass King of the Jizera Mountains", and the sixth generation of this family company. Under his stewardship Riedel became an economic titan of the golden age of glassmaking in Bohemia, the world-famous center of European glass production.
The design of the Mamba Double Magnum references the groundbreaking 2011 design of the Mamba decanter, which caused a global sensation. For 2016, the 260th anniversary of the family-owned company, Maximilian J. Riedel, CEO of Riedel, developed a unique vessel which pays homage to the company's venerable past while at the same time representing its role as a leader in glassware design today.
He set his glassblowers to the almost impossible task of producing the highly complex and difficult design of the Mamba decanter in double magnum format. The glassblower Jan Kocek at the glassworks in Kufstein, Austria rose to this enormous challenge in exemplary fashion: crafting this elaborate decanter requires supreme skill and craftsmanship. Mouth blown from lead-free crystal and shaped by hand, it impresses through its design, its perfect execution and its functionality. The Mamba Double Magnum is a decanter manufactured in a limited edition of 260 pieces and is a must-have for every wine lover who stores magnum or double magnum bottles in his or her cellar and wants to honor them with the treatment they deserve.
Each of these pieces is delivered in a handcrafted box and provided with a certificate of authenticity signed by Maximilian J. Riedel and the glassblower.
